How to choose a Cappadocia day tour

What separates the tours, what a day includes, and when to go private.

Red first, Green second

The Red Tour is the north: Göreme Open Air Museum, the monk chimneys of Paşabağ, the shaped rocks of Devrent and Uçhisar Castle. The Green Tour is the south: Derinkuyu Underground City, a 4 km walk in Ihlara Valley, lunch by the river and Pigeon Valley on the way back. What a day tour includes

Hotel pickup from Göreme, Uçhisar, Ürgüp, Avanos and Ortahisar around 9:30, a licensed English-speaking guide, minibus transport, lunch and every entrance fee on the route. Drinks and tips are the only extras. Tours run daily, all year, and finish around 17:00. Cancellation policy.

Group or private

Group tours are capped at 14 guests and follow a fixed route. A private tour gives you a car, a driver and your own guide from about $95 per person, so you can skip the museum, linger in a valley or add Avanos pottery. Pair it with a balloon

Balloon flights land by 8am, so a sunrise flight and a day tour fit in the same day. If you have two nights, fly on the first morning and keep the second as a backup. Hot air balloon flights.

Is lunch included on Cappadocia day tours?

Yes. Every day tour includes a sit-down lunch at a local restaurant, plus all entrance fees. Drinks are paid on the spot. Green Tour (South Cappadocia).

How long are the day tours?

About seven hours for the Red Tour and eight for the Green and Blue. Pickup is around 9:30 and you are back at your hotel by 17:00 or so. Red Tour (North Cappadocia).

Can children join?
